Dehradun (Uttarakhand), May 11: The Centre on Wednesday revoked President’s Rule from Uttarakhand after Chief Minister Harish Rawat proved his majority on the floor of the House. “(The) clouds of uncertainty will vanish soon”, Rawat said and thanked the top court which had ordered the trial of strength and also upheld the Uttarakhand high court’s ruling barring the nine Congress rebels from voting.

But Harish Rawat had already announced that he won the test with thirty-three votes, and BJP got twenty-eight. “My instructions are that the Centre will revoke the President’s rule”, Attorney General told Supreme Court.

The CBI is investigating into the authenticity of a video that allegedly shows Rawat offering a deal to the rebel MLAs through middlemen.

Apart from the BSP, the six-member People’s Democratic Front with UKD (1) and independents (3) reportedly voted for Rawat.

The results of the test were handed over to the Supreme Court in a sealed cover. the court confirmed on Wednesday that Rawat had the support of 33 lawmakers, two more than he needed for majority.

“It is clear that respondent number one (Harish Rawat) has proved the majority on the floor of the house”.

Sharma claimed the constitutional crisis in Uttarakhand was created because of Congress’ “anti-people” policies and due to “anger” of its leaders against the party’s central leadership.
