Congress demands Supreme Court monitored CBI probe into Vyapam scam

Since 2012, there have been 36 deaths in connection with the scam involving politicians and bureaucrats allegedly accepting kickbacks for allowing imposters to take the recruitment exam for government jobs and admission to colleges. The case has witnessed death of more than two dozen accused and witnesses under mysterious circumstances.

“The state government stands with bereaved families in the hour of their grief”, he said.

The chief minister said he was dispatching a letter to the Madhya Pradesh High Court that the case should be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation. Her body was found near a pond in the Police Training Centre in Sagar.

Police said that that have registered a case of suicide and started an investigation.

On Monday, a woman trainee sub-inspector, Anamika Kushwaha (25), became the latest victim of the Vyapam scam on Monday. “And before the FIR could go to the court, (it) was sent to the media”, she alleged. His TV crew took him unconscious to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead. Congress rejects it in toto.

Ramakant too was quizzed on his alleged role as a mediator in the deal. There is a growing concern regarding the inability of the Special Task Force in investigating the matter as some of the people involved in the scam are from outside the state.

He also pointed out that the current probe was being conducted by a High Court-appointed SIT, and was being monitored by the court.

Opposition parties asked for the resignation of Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and demanded a Supreme Court Monitoring on the case.

Ram Naresh Yadav, a ex- chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, was himself made an accused in the scam before getting relief from court. “The original excel sheet that the whistleblower had submitted has been changed”, Kumar claimed.
