TMC leaders claimed that, the party will take over another Congress-ruled municipality in Murshidabad- Kandi Municipality- very soon, as several Congress councilors would join the party. “We are answerable to the people of the state”.

“The demand for implementation of the Inner Line Permit has been disrupting normal life in Manipur”. Ten persons have been killed. “There are many followers of Bhunia in the Congress and Bhunia may be used to convince them to join Trinamool Congress before 2018 panchayet elections in Bengal”, said a senior Trinamool Congress leader preferring anonymity.

TMC’s Secretary General Partha Chatterjee said, “Nobody accepted the alliance between CPI-M and Congress in last assembly election and one after another Congress leaders are joining our party to become a part of Mamata Banerjee’s grand development process and success”. Three of them were disqualified by Speaker Thokchom Lokeshwar Singh in 2015.
