Congressional Republicans grapple with new Trump reality
So, his agenda is the peoples agenda.Trump moved from presidential front runner to presumptive nominee last week when he crushed rival Ted Cruz in the in primary, and Cruz dropped out of the race.Ahead of a private meeting Thursday with House Speaker Paul Ryan, Trump used several televised interviews that aired Sunday to knock Ryan and other influential Republicans, along with a nomination system he says is totally rigged.Trump said Ryan blindsided him by declining to endorse him. He told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he would step down as chairman of the Republican National Convention if Trump wants that.

“I’m going to say, ‘Look, this is what the people want, ‘” Trump said.
Palin attacked Ryan for withholding his support of Trump, the assumed Republican presidential nominee.
In the same interview, Ryan also ruled out supporting a third party candidate.
“If we go forward pretending that we’re unified, then we are going to be at half-strength this fall”, Ryan told The Journal Times in Racine, Wisconsin, defending his stunning decision last week to refuse to endorse his party’s presumptive presidential nominee.
Ryan and Trump are scheduled to meet Thursday, May 12th. Trump referred to Lindsey Graham, the SC senator who said Friday he would never vote for Trump, as “this lightweight”. Trump said he was blindsided by Ryan’s stance. “And he did it without kissing anybody’s behind, which is why I think so many people are supportive of him”. “We just don’t know each other”. “I don’t think people here pay that close attention to outside…influence”.
“The reason we suspended the race last week is with Indiana’s loss I didn’t see a viable path to victory. But he’s our candidate, and he’ll be a heck of a lot better than Hillary Clinton”.
“Whatever Paul Ryan does with regard to the presidential campaign, and I fully expect he will eventually endorse Donald Trump as the nominee, it won’t be because of any idle, ridiculous threats from Trump, Palin or any surrogate that comes through and pops off”, Fraley said. “I think conservatives want to know: Does [Trump] share our values and our principles on limited government, the proper role of the executive, adherence to the Constitution?” In the March Marquette Law School poll, Ryan had an 81 percent favorability rating among Republicans in his congressional district.
Ryan said Monday “there’s no point in responding” to Palin.

“It’s an important event for the state of OH, and he will be there”, said Boehner spokesman Dave Schnittger. Cantor was the Republican House majority leader who was upset in a 2014 primary in Virginia by Dave Brat. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio said in a statement Monday that he is ruling out a run with Trump.
