Congressman grabs drinking glass used by pope, takes sip

U.S. Rep. Bob Brady, D-Pa., drinks September 24, 2015, from a glass of water that Pope Francis used during his speech to Congress, while standing in Brady’s Washington, D.C., office. His wife Debra and two of Brady’s staffers also quaffed some. Casey brought along his wife and mother, and the “three dipped their fingers into the glass”, the Daily News reported. Casey’s office confirmed the moment.

The glass is now being kept safe in a paper bag, where it will stay until he takes it to the forensics team at the Philadelphia Police Department so they can dust it for fingerprints.

The Pennsylvanian claims to be a devout Catholic, but he has a long, long history of voting for even the most extreme pro-abortion bills, something that puts him decidedly at odds with the Catholic Church.

Once Pope Francis’ speech was finished, as he stepped down from his podium on the House floor to walk towards the exit, Congress members swarmed, attempting to touch the Holy Father. Brady asked.

This isn’t the only time Brady has pulled this freakish water glass trick.

Brady said he has emptied the water into a bottle and plans to use it to bless his grandchildren.

“I’m sure it’s blessed if the Pope drank out of it. Why not?”

He’s done it before, when he swiped President Barack Obama’s glass after his inauguration in 2009.
