Congressman Tim Ryan questions Democrat leadership
But now, after a string of disappointments, those divisions have re-emerged, though Pelosi appears unlikely to face an immediate challenge.

“I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi believes that she is the one that can lead this party”.
That’s because they think she helps them win elections.
The more than million spent by Democrats to boost Jon Ossoff’s campaign wasn’t enough for a win in the special election in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District that went to Republican Karen Handel by a larger than anticipated margin.
To the editor: As disappointed as I am in the defeat of Ossoff in Georgia, what really upsets me is the amount of money spent by both parties on an election for a House seat. Second-in-command Rep. Steny Hoyer, D-Md., is 78, and number three Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., is 76.
Democratic pundits will try to distract from the devastating loss they experienced Tuesday, but there is no hiding the fact that the race for Georgia’s 6th failed to show much backlash against Trump among the affluent suburbanites who liberals too often assume are moving their way. But the Pelosi attacks on the House side have been consistent for years.
“The brand is just bad”, Ryan said.
Democratic Rep. Filemon Vela from Texas told Politico that you’d have to be an idiot to think that Democrats could win with the current Democratic leader in the House.
But it’s her fundraising skills that are regarded as a key political asset. During a debate with Ossoff, she insisted that she wasn’t “an extension of the White House”. She retains a devoted core of fiercely loyal supporters. If elected, I will not vote for Nancy Pelosi for speaker. But the Democratic Party is committing itself to seeking out “job creators”-i.e., wealthy capitalists, as well as business owners and doctors-in other words, candidates drawn from the top one percent, the most privileged layers in society”.
Leading the charge is Valley congressman Tim Ryan. The Iraq war veteran endorsed eight veterans running for the House this week, and started a new national security task force with other young veterans within the Democratic caucus. Pelosi’s PAC gave $496,000.
Boosted by donations and volunteers from around the country, Ossoff dominated the special election’s jungle primary. And she remains the party’s most prodigious fundraiser, bringing in $567.9 million for the party since she joined leadership in 2002. “But her time has come and gone”.
“If we take back the House in 2018 then I think she’d stay leader”, said Rep. Ruben Gallego, D-Ariz.
“This is certainly something that we have to discuss because it’s clear that, I think, across the board in the Democratic Party we need new leadership”.
Celebrity songstress Cher jumped into the fray, and in answer to Moulton’s tweets observed that it’s time to bring in new blood.
But Pelosi mocked the President, saying it was “the first tweet he didn’t actually write” because it sounded like a statement many other Republicans have made recently. After a Republican super PAC tied Ossoff to Pelosi, he lost the race to Republican Karen Handel.
“It’s fair to say nearly every cent has been raised through the prism of, ‘we need to hold the Republican majority to prevent Nancy Pelosi from passing her far-left agenda, ‘” said Jesse Hunt, a spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee – the House GOP’s campaign arm.

In a letter to her colleagues on Wednesday about the special elections, Pelosi maintained an upbeat tone. He said defending Pelosi to voters would be an expensive endeavor, but it may be worth it.
