Conor McGregor begins war of words with Rafael dos Anjos

But McGregor vs dos Anjos is just one of the big-time fights that is going to go down on the first weekend in March.

Now we all know that any fight with Conor McGregor is the “money fight” and his opponents, either they win or lose, will celebrate with their wives by “busting out the red panties”. “I believe in absolutely everything, I believe that inside one minute I will dust him”, he continued, giving a dig on Dos Anjos’ capabilities.

If McGregor beats Dos Anjos, Edgar could see a scenario where he takes the featherweight title off McGregor at UFC 200 in July, rematches him months later at 155 pounds and takes the lightweight title, as well.

“When the guys had questions for Rafael, he talked at the same time”. Although it is often hard to tell what is real and what is confected outrage from a showman such as McGregor, at times on Wednesday it sounded much more like the latter. “I will be there to defend my belt and send him back to the featherweight division so Aldo can finish him for good”, Dos Anjos confidently said.

Do you think Conor’s ego is getting out of control, or is the Lamborghini driving, Rolex wearing Irish superstar just having fun and enjoying the ride?

“It gives a bigger aura to Conor and his image and what he’s done and it definitely makes it a bigger fight”. It was no accident, he was sending a message to Dos Anjos that while he may now sit atop the lightweight throne, he was merely keeping the cushion warm because McGregor is the real star. The way I train, the way I spar, I’m out of my comfort zone every single day, and you can see the result in my fights.

“I don’t really get excited”.

But Dos Anjos, who won the title by beating Anthony Pettis and defended it against Donald Cerrone, has no doubt his challenger has made the wrong move. I think that’s a department that needs to be looked at. “So there you go”.

In the end, many will simply say that Fabrício Werdum, like many other MMA fighters, are taking Conor McGregor’s hype talk way too seriously. “We can do it back-to-back and that will be UFC 204 or whatever, that would be the next biggest fight. He’s a good fighter, but I’ve fought better fighters”, dos Anjos said.
