Conor McGregor Drops Down UFC Pound-For-Pound Rankings
Conor McGregor, right, took a beating from Nate Diaz at UFC 196. Aldo – who sat atop many pound-for-pound lists prior to the fight – seeks to gain revenge after McGregor scored a scintillating 13-second knockout of the Brazilian at UFC 194. Diaz said he could not make 160, so McGregor ended up giving Diaz what he wanted, a fight at 170 pounds. The popular Irishman is still the UFC featherweight champion and will most likely be headlining UFC 200 in July.

McGregor summed up his loss in two words. “He was efficient. I wasn’t efficient”.
If you’ve followed Conor McGregor’s career, one thing you’ve come to realize is that he always preaches being humble in victory or defeat. He took the fight on short notice and done the job. “He was efficient. I wasn’t efficient”.
“I’ll take this loss like a man”.
“I felt good in the first round, but I was inefficient”, McGregor said.
However, McGregor seemed to run out of steam, perhaps aided by a fierce hook from Diaz that connected with the side of his face. When I knew [about the result], I didn’t think twice and posted something [on Instagram], I knew that would happen. “Like I said from the beginning, I have the best training partners in the world in every aspect”, said Diaz after the fight. Lightweight champion dos Anjos also made a disparaging remark about McGregor’s ability. A few hours later, the singer, who has 61 million followers on the website, posted again, this time a video with a caption that reads “No bandwagon but Conor is a true champion, fights with style and finesse, all the respect to Nate but his style is awful. Diaz stepped in to fight the Dublin native after his original opponent, Rafael dos Anjos, went down with an injury. The UFC boss said he texted her afterward with the result, and got a very Rousey-like response. Diaz began stalking McGregor midway through the round and landed multiple huge punches.
If so, former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, who is on a five-fight winning streak, has been pining for a shot at McGregor’s belt.
“It’s kind of hard not to give Jose his shot because he was 10 years undefeated”, McGregor said.
