Conor McGregor: I’d beat UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler
On that, the two ladies challenging for a world title at the MGM Grand Garden Arena this Saturday can agree.

With dos Anjos out of the picture at this point, McGregor said that facing Lawler is “the leading option” for him.
Title challenges “If we fought, I would beat Robbie”, McGregor said. “They don’t take risks, and people who don’t take risks will never climb to that next level”. “I could easily switch you up now and put you back on that 20 and 20 if you want”.
“It would take me less than 30 seconds to wrap around him like a boa constrictor and strangle him”, he said.
McGregor had hoped to add Dos Anjos’ lightweight belt to his own belt and become the first UFC fighter to hold two belts at the same time, but the Brazilian pulled out with a broken foot last week. It is unknown how long dos Anjos will be forced to ride the pine and McGregor has stated he plans on returning for the blockbuster UFC 200 event on July 9. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. He and the UFC settled on Diaz (19-10), the tough-talking, well-rounded veteran from an infamous fighting family.
But the fight that now has MMA fans on the edge of their seats nearly didn’t come to be.
“Then they offered me shit for money”, he continues, “so I said, ‘Hold up, I know this is a money fight”.
To which, McGregor replied: “You don’t make any calls”. The brash Irishman brought up Diaz bashing UFC play-by-play man Jon Anik, who said he would get a “209” tattoo if Diaz managed to win Saturday.
Also, the weight class of this fight was up for debate.
McGregor also quashed the gap between him and Diaz following a very heated press conference and emphasized that it is all about business. With extra pounds of muscle in his core, he expects an accompanying increase in his already impressive punching power.
Starting with a boisterous news conference in suburban Los Angeles last week, the fighters have creatively criticized almost every aspect of their opponent’s outlook on mixed martial arts, fame and life.

“They’re flipping each other off and we’re making each other friendship bracelets”, Tate laughed.
