Conor McGregor knocks out Jose Aldo in 13 seconds at UFC 194

Jose Aldo Jr. has been simply unbeatable during his career, having not suffered a loss since becoming the UFC’s first ever featherweight champion more than a decade ago.

The 26-year-old followed up with needless hammerfist strikes for the first-round stoppage (strikes) just 13 seconds into round one.

“You don’t want to see the only champion in the company’s history going out like that, so I had a little moment where I felt sorry for José”, he later added. “There is no doubt now”.

Aldo had not lost in 10 years and was riding an 18-fight win streak.

With Aldo lying on the ground, McGregor punctuated with follow-up vicious blows to the head to compel referee “Big” John McCarthy to step in and halt the contest.

In the main event, Aldo will be defending his UFC Featherweight Championship against the Notorious Conor McGregor in a much-anticipated showdown, which is expected to break the attendance record in the UFC.

“Precision beats power and timing beats speed and that’s what you saw there”.

Jose has been a phenomenal champion. “You give me a good camp, ample time to prepare for him and I’m the guy to beat McGregor”.

Weidman famously won his title from one of the sport’s greatest champions when Anderson Silva was showboating and Weidman clocked him on the jaw at UFC 162 in July, 2013. The fans celebrated long after McGregor left the cage, singing and carousing and forming a lengthy conga line.

McGregor is now 7-0 in the UFC, with all but one coming by knockout.

The fight came after nearly a year of talk and a barrage of insults from McGregor towards the Brazilian. Many (including me) have suggested that he’s the new bearded face of the UFC due to his charisma, entertainment value and especially now that Ronda Rouseyis going dancing without a belt around her waist. However, the champion Aldo suffered a rib injury prior to the bout and was forced to pull out at the last-minute. “That’s what I’m hoping doesn’t happen”.

For just the third time in UFC history, two undisputed title belts changed hands on the same card.

What are the opinions on the move to lightweight or a final featherweight thriller with Frankie Edgar for the new champ McGregor? “I can take over this, ‘” said McGregor.
