Conor McGregor makes bold claim ahead of Nate Diaz rematch

The first fight between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz was a record-breaking night for the UFC. Nothing will break me. I feel pretty good being my first time going five rounds.

Rafael dos Anjos never liked Conor McGregor’s chances if they fought and he’s certainly not backing down from that opinion now.

After blasting Diaz with some first-round punches, McGregor was struck in the head by Diaz’s blows early in the second round.

The 27-year-old is on a mission to avenge his welterweight defeat to Diaz at UFC 196 with the rematch now less than two weeks away. Who are you predicting to win at UFC 202: McGregor vs. Diaz II?

“It’s not like something I was losing sleep over trying to get into, but when they call and the opportunities are there, you might as well take them”, Diaz said. “How I’ll be remembered is as a guy who showed up every single time”.

On the other hand, this latest of WWE rumors may be nothing more than superstars trading some publicity for some upcoming events.

UFC President Dana White said McGregor will be obligated to return to featherweight for a rematch with former featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

Diaz could also jump to the front of the line in the lightweight division and make a very interesting and winnable fight against new champion Eddie Alvarez.

McGregor has caused quite a stir with his comments.

To date, only one of McGregor’s 22 professional MMA fights have gone the distance – a unanimous decision victory over Max Holloway August 2013 which only spanned three rounds. It’s a contrast between the fast-witted, quick-talking Irishman and the street-hardened, anti-authority rebel, Diaz said. Also, his height and his range and his reactions, and I gave no respect to that. “Conor was the biggest draw. If I’m not going to have a big fight, then I’m not going to [expletive] around anymore”.

It all happened months ago, in April, and it’s something he doesn’t ever want to be part of again, yet could not wholly brush off taking part of the blame. “I knew eventually, I’d get there”. I wanted to restrict the media. “Me and the boy have something and it ain’t finished yet”, said McGregor. Friday afternoon, he predicted his rematch against Nate Diaz, and of course it ended with McGregor winning the fight. “I fought everybody in the UFC”, he said.

Or did they? It’s possible that at least some of the wrestlers who responded did so to get a rub from McGregor.
