Paddy Power released odds on where “The Notorious” will end up next. “I don’t know”, UFC president Dana White said. “He could live-tweet #UFC200 for us…”
Irish fighting sensation Conor McGregor has shocked the world by announcing his retirement and it has been confirmed that he has been pulled from his scheduled bout at UFC 200. Thanks for the cheese.
White said McGregor was in Iceland training instead, but he was not exempt from missing the Las Vegas events, which is being attended by the rest of the UFC 200 fight participants.
“And we’re working on other fights right now”.
“Conor did not want to come to Las Vegas and film the commercial or be a part of any of the marketing we have”.
McGregor on Monday announced via social media that he had arrived in Reykjavik, Iceland, to train.
The news comes amid speculation that McGregor, one of the promotion’s most marketable stars could be set to retire. “Only he can answer that question, I don’t know but he’s not fighting at UFC 200”.
“Conor is a guy who has stepped up and taken fights on short notices and literally saved the show at times”, he added.
Despite the cancellation of Conor McGregor’s fight in UFC 200, White said on SportsCenter that they are still on good terms, according to Yahoo!
Nate Diaz beat Conor McGregor at UFC 196 last month by choking the Featherweight Champion into submission. But you can’t decide to not show up for this things. “You have to do it”.
Just whether McGregor’s claims of retirement are legit or a ploy remains to be seen.
