Conor McGregor vows to end Jose Aldo era at UFC 194

Interim featherweight champion Conor McGregor finally stepped into the cage with champion Jose Aldo at UFC 194 in the MGM Grand Garden Arena. If that’s not enough, the fight card on Saturday night is so stacked that the pioneer crossover star of the smaller weight classes, Urijah Faber, is competing on the preliminary card before the pay-per-view even begins.

Though much of the interest was generated by the two title fights at the top of the card – Chris Weidman will defend his middleweight title against Luke Rockhold in the co-main – Muncey said that surprisingly, traffic was spread out.

Aldo caught his share of boos from the pro-McGregor crowd waving the Irish flag. McGregor took full advantage of it during his question and answers segment with more mind games. In 2009, he was named Journalist of the Year at the IIA NetVisionary Awards and won the Alumni Choice award at the 2014 Business Journalist Awards.

The report indicated that McGregor, the UFC’s biggest draw in fight promotions, could earn $300,000 base, with an additional $250,000 and $3-$5 per PPV buys.

Aldo then took the microphone and replied: “I don’t care what he (McGregor) has to say, the thing is I’m coming in here tomorrow night and I’m going to be the champion”.

No one else has ever been the champion, with Aldo being the inaugural title holder.

“He threw a cross at my chest I wasn’t expecting”, Aldo said. “I just can not see it. I can not feel it. It comes from I see, what I feel, what I know”. “That’s what I saw when I looked at him”.

The fight was over in UFC title fight record time, beating the 14-second mark set by Ronda Rousey, and took McGregor’s record to 19-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC as he continues to climb the pound-for-pound rankings.

McGregor beat late replacement Chad Mendes for the interim belt and immediately went on the offensive to attack Aldo for pulling out of the fight. “We get a bit excited”, Clinton said. I’m going to embarrass Jose in there.

“I tore 80 per cent of my ACL (knee ligament) on the world tour with Aldo last time round”, he recalls. I showed up against Mendes (at UFC 189, where Mendes replaced Aldo) because I’m a beast.
