Witnesses told fire officials that the hapless worker cowered on the ground and struggled to guard himself from the stingers, but stingers continued to sting him all over the body. It happened pretty quickly, really.
Construction crews contracted by Wal-Mart were grading a space for a new parking lot when they encountered an underground bee hive, Riverside Fire Department officials said in a statement.
A swarm of bees attacked workers on a construction site in Southern California, killing one man and leaving two others injured. “They just kept splitting up and chasing all the other workers”.
Workers finally used a water truck to ward off the bees.
Three patients were hospitalized, including two in critical condition and one with minor injuries, according to fire officials.
He died shortly after, according to media reports. A third was treated at the scene for major injuries. KABC A construction contractor called in an exterminator on Monday after a worker was killed by a swarm of bees.
“Our people donned protective gear to get a closer look and confirm the bees were down there, then we contacted vector control to remove the hive.” he said.

The bee attack came without warning, workers said. “You could just see a swarm around his head”.
