He was pronounced dead where he fell at 624 S. Figueroa St., firefighters said.

The man’s body struck the rear of a auto that was traveling on the street below. Just four days earlier, construction workers and contractor personnel had celebrated the building’s topping out ceremony.
The worker landed on the back end of a vehicle being driven on Figueroa.
A construction worker on his second day on the job died after falling from the 53rd floor of the Wilshire Grand Center tower and landing on a passing auto in downtown Los Angeles early Thursday afternoon, March 17th.
The woman was taken to a hospital to be examined, city fire officials said.
According to a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department, the man fell from the building and was found unresponsive by paramedics. The building is at one of the busiest intersections in downtown Los Angeles and the fall came at one of the busiest times of day.
“We were deeply saddened to learn that we have lost a member of the team building the Wilshire Grand Center”, a company statement says.
Chris Martin, chief executive of Martin Project Management which is supervising the construction, did not immediately say whether the man had a safety harness on as is required on the project.

Martin said all of the building’s 891 workers had undergone training.
