Consumer Reports questions quality of Tesla’s Model X SUV
It remains to be seen if Ford’s current strategy to stick with a 100-mile Ford Focus and compete against the 200-mile EVs Chevrolet Bolt and the Tesla Model 3 will be preferred by the public. “Those are the things I suspect Ford would be taking special note of as they develop their sport utilities of the future”, Krebs added.

Come July, a wider range of fully electric and extended range plug-in hybrid cars will benefit from a sales tax break in Washington state.
Instead, Ford’s representatives explained that it is common practice for automakers to purchase production cars for testing as soon as they are released, and admitted that they sometimes pay over sticker price to obtain the cars faster. All this shows how Tesla looks so unprepared to meet its Model 3 orders. He immediately sold the auto to a Chicago-area dealership for profit. Recently, Tesla issued a voluntary recall of around 2,700 released Model X due to a problem in the seatback. The company announced that it delivered 2400 of the SUVs in the first quarter as it continues to ramp up production. That seems a bit odd, though, as the Model X has significantly different packaging restraints than a gasoline-powered vehicle, so unless Ford is designing an EV, using a Model X for packaging research doesn’t seem to make the most sense. It also features “falcon-wing’ doors that open vertically for the rear-seat passengers”. Model X owners should receive a call from their local service center to schedule installation of the new components once they are available.
Tesla told both the WSJ and Consumer Reports that door problems should be “largely behind us now”, and the company pointed both publications to the high satisfaction rating it still enjoys from its customers.
The company says that 98% of its customers say they will buy another Tesla as their next auto.
Tesla is giving its customers the chance to try out the Autopilot autonomous technology for a one-month trial period.
“Based on recent orders, Tesla is vastly outselling competitive electric automobiles made by competitors, all of whom are much bigger and better resourced”.

Also as part of that program, the Model X in question is part of the Founders Series, a limited run for the first cars produced.
