Tens of thousands of fans are expected to converge on Lens in northern France on 16 June after the sides were drawn together in Group B.

Former England captain Alan Shearer believes players from the Three Lions and Wales will relish their game but played down England’s chances in the overall tournament.

They then head to Lyon to face Ukraine on June 16 before finishing their Group C campaign against world champions Germany at the Parc de Princes in Paris on June 21. They then take on Belgium in Bordeaux on June 18 and the Italians on June 22 in Lille. It doesn’t matter who you play, you’ve got to concentrate on yourselves.

Saturday evening was the night all Northern Ireland fans had been waiting for, and it produced a tough draw for Michael O’Neill’s men.

‘In my experience we do better against bigger teams’.

“Belgium are a team for which one has great expectations. There is no reason why we shouldn’t”. “We say to everyone that we must reach the semi-finals, so we must start the tournament with complete confidence”. We know Poland well from the qualification.

“But I’d like to think we have one or two players who will give Wales manager Chris Coleman something to think about in a match which will excite the British public”.

Germany team manager Oliver Bierhoff was bullish, saying: “We sure were lucky”.

The World Cup holders will be fancied to finish top of a group also containing Ukraine and outsiders Northern Ireland, but coach Joachim Loew is not taking anything for granted.

PLAYER TO WATCH: With goals likely to be plentiful in an attack-minded group, there is plenty of talent to catch the eye with Russian Federation striker Artem Dzyuba, Slovakia midfielder Marek Hamsik, and England’s Wayne Rooney.

Spain has a fairly easy road to the final, assigned to Group D with Czech Republic, Turkey, and Croatia.
