Conte: Fabregas still not guaranteed spot in starting line-up

Fabregas scored in the first four minutes of extra time after Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta cancelled out Shinji Okazaki’s first-half double before Leicester’s Marcin Wasilewski was sent off in the 89th minute.

The Spaniard won the league with the Blues in 2014/15, something he hasn’t managed with the Gunners in his long association with the club before his move back to Spain.

“It (early part of the season) has been tough, I’m not going to deny it”, Fabregas told the London Evening Standard. I know physically what I can give. Hopefully, I will achieve it again.

Chelsea are now 5th in the PL and will have their work cut out against 4th place Arsenal, who have scored 8 goals in their last two matches with commanding wins against Hull City in the Premier League and also a 4-1 win against Nottingham Forrest in the EFL Cup Third Round.

“Of course it comes from pride”.

“After my family, football is everything to me”. It’s always been like that.

“It’s a new situation but you have to accept it, you have to be professional, to keep your attitude”.

“In extra time I said stay together and close the space, but Fabregas scored and it was very hard for us”. I am satisfied when I see this behavior. “I know what I can do and it’s a lot for this team”. I am in a moment of my career where I feel very mature.

Premier League Bournemouth went out in a 3-2 defeat at home to second-tier Preston North End, whose striker Simon Makienok bagged a hat-trick including an extra-time victor.

Fabregas put Chelsea 3-2 ahead in the second minute of extra-time after a lovely build-up which involved Eden Hazard and Costa. But I really want to say thank you, for this little boy in the pic.

“For Matic, who is the opposite of me, he wants him to be better offensively. He works every aspect for us”.

But a gritty display from the 29-year-old – ahead of Saturday’s visit to former club Arsenal – impressed Conte, although he offered no assurances he would start at the Emirates Stadium. And also I watched Jeffrey Schlupp come back after his injury, Ben Chilwell, Demarai Gray and Ahmed Musa must understand much better the Premier League, but it is okay.

“And that’s it. Wherever I am I will support the team”. I didn’t score for a long time and I scored, so it’s okay.
