Conte happy with Chelsea’s ideal start, calls for further improvement

Willian added a fine second on 42 minutes as Chelsea took complete control of the one-sided encounter, before substitute Victor Moses rounded off a comfortable afternoon with the third a minute from time.

The win continues Conte’s flawless record since moving to Chelsea and the Italian coach has admitted that he was happy with how his side performed against Burnley.

“Usually when a new manager arrives and brings his idea of football, his methodology of football and new ideas to play football, you can have good ideas but it’s important to have good results also”. “I saw his will to work and improve and find a good shape very quickly”, Conte said.

“But I am also pleased with his commitment and his workrate during the training sessions”.

It was the ideal start for Chelsea who took the lead after only nine minutes when Hazard beat two defenders before unleashing a low 18-yard drive that found the bottom corner of the net, 1-0. He sees the goal very well and has a good shot. We created a lot of chances and kept a clean sheet – this is important because after 13 home games without a clean sheet this helps the confidence and shows the hard work is paying off.

“We know Chelsea is a great team and a great team must fight to the end for the title”.

“It’s a pity now there is this global break”. You know that when you start the season it is already very tough. Other than both teams to score, the other lines are not looking very appealing so I think they are best to avoid.

Burnley, newly promoted from the Championship, hadn’t won a league game at the Bridge for 45 years – and from the moment Hazard scored after only nine minutes it looked hugely unlikely they would break that duck.

A thoroughly satisfying afternoon’s work for the Blues once more, but Sean Dyche’s men have some serious work to do for the season ahead if this display was anything to go by.
