Conte Laments Chelsea Defeat To Liverpool, Defends Late Subs
The Blues suffered their first Premier League defeat of the season on Friday as Liverpool left Stamford Bridge with all three points.

“This season the manager and players must take responsibility”.
Diego Costa pulled one back for Chelsea in the 61st minute, but they failed to register a shot on target after the Spain worldwide fired straight at Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet four minutes later.
He said: “The message I have given them is the same as that I gave after the game – we must pay attention in every moment”.
Yet, the Italian boss rues the lack of concentration of his players during the first-half as an unmarked Dejan Lovren put Liverpool ahead before Jordan Henderson double the lead with a stunning strike.
Costa had been feeding on scraps for an hour until he tucked in his fifth goal of the season from Nemanja Matic’s pull-back.
The second half was a more even affair, with Diego Costa bringing the score to 2-1, giving the home team a chance to draw equal.
The visitors started the match on the front foot, with Daniel Sturridge’s curling effort initially slipping from the grasp of Thibaut Courtois, but the Chelsea goalkeeper quickly recovered.
“We have 10 points and that’s fantastic – really fantastic and I am really happy about it after these hard fixtures”. In the second half it was a bit more hard. The Blues couldn’t manage to salvage a point this time around though, as the Reds dominated the first half and gave the home side a mountain to climb in the second.
On his starring role, Henderson played down what was one of the best goals of 2016/17 – his first since the 5-4 win at Norwich in January – but spoke glowingly about the team’s performance against a strong Chelsea team.
“Every single game is very tough and we mustn’t forget last season”.

The two goals conceded in the first period, though classy, could have been defended a lot better. Details change results. We analysed the game together and we’ve seen the positive things and the bad things.
