The recall announced on Friday is part of 5.7 million Honda vehicles that will be recalled worldwide over the latest Takata air bag problem.

“We are working closely with all potentially impacted vehicle manufacturers on this issue”, Continental spokeswoman Mary Arraf said.
Based on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration expansion of the Takata airbag recall, Honda (and Acura, its luxury division) is expanding its recall to include some 2.23 million more cars and SUVs as well as its only pickup truck.
A report published by the Continental Automotive Systems detailed that moisture can enter air bag control computer, which may cause the power lines to deteriorate and fail over time.
Fiat Chrysler has plans on recalling some 112,000 2009 Dodge Journeys, 2008 and 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan, as well as Chrysler Town & Country minivans. So far, it has already documented 25 cases of accidental air bag deployments.
126,000 Mercedes-Benz models (2009 C-Class, 2010 GLK-Class). In 2015 Honda said that two 2008 Accords were in crashes where the airbags didn’t activate, causing injuries. It also added that 74 injury accusations in connection with air bags that failed to deploy have yet to be verified.
Honda is recalling another 440,000 cars in Japan over air bag inflators made by Takata that can explode and hurl shrapnel into the vehicle. It went on to say that these parts aren’t sufficient for all cars until autumn.

Honda previously has recalled more than 6m USA vehicles since 2008 to replace defective Takata inflators. “I think comparisons [to Takata] are a little unfair to Continental”. Per federal law, individual automakers will conduct the recall campaigns.
