Several automakers are recalling more than 5 million vehicles distributed worldwide over growing concerns in air bag problems.

These air bag units, produced from 2006 to 2010, may not deploy in a crash or may deploy by accident with no warning.
The parts supplier said in documents filed with the USA government that the problem centers on moisture getting inside its airbag control computers, which can cause the power supplies to corrode and fail, presenting the possibility of the airbags not inflating in a crash or deploying when there isn’t a crash, according to the Associated Press. A spokesman for the auto firm’s Irish importer, Universal Honda Ltd, said they were still trying to clarify how many Irish customers will be affected in this latest recall.
Continental Automotive Systems Inc. issued a recall affecting 5 million vehicles worldwide due to possibly faulty airbag control unit. Per federal law, individual automakers will conduct the recall campaigns. The explosion causes the metal canister to break apart, sending tiny shrapnel inside the vehicle. Fiat Chrysler has reported 7 injuries resulting from the defect. Honda, on the other hand, turned over units of 2008 Accord, prompting USA safety regulators to pursue investigations.
Not all the cars in these model years will be included in the recall. Fiat Chrysler will recall 112,000 2009 Dodge Journeys, plus all 2008-2009 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan minivans, with no announced fix schedule.
