A statement issued by Quinyetta McMillon’s attorneys says “responding to violence with violence is not the answer”.
Police said they have dash-cam video, bodycam video and store surveillance footage of the shooting that will be turned over to the Justice Department. Candle-lit balloons were released into the hot night air nearby in honor of Sterling and protesters waved signs and chanted slogans.
In Baton Rouge, Gov. John Bel Edwards led a prayer vigil, delivering remarks with leaders from the community and elected city officials.
In less than 48 hours, two black men were killed at the hands of law enforcement officers.

On Thursday, protesters gathered for a third night at the store where Sterling was shot to death as they tried to make sense of recent events, including a fatal shooting in Minnesota.
