The actor-cum-model was strangled to death in her house in Multan’s Karimabad area in the early hours yesterday.

“Waseem confessed to his crime, saying he killed his sister for honour after her recent objectionable videos, mostly posted on Facebook”.
Baloch was a controversial figure in Pakistan, whose “raunchy social media photos challenged social norms… in the traditional Muslim country where women are often repressed by their family or the community”, reports Reuters. During a press conference, Baloch’s brother revealed: After the videos with Mufti Abdul Qavi had gone viral on social media, I planned to murder her and was only waiting for the best moment.
Furthermore, Azeem admits that he is a drug addict but maintains that he was in full control of his mind when he killed his sister by slipping her a sleeping pill and then strangling her in their home. Her 25-year-old brother Waseem was arrested and confessed to the murder.
Despite receiving death threats and abusive comments on social media, Baloch refused to bow down to critics, identifying herself as a feminist. “It seems to be a case of honour killing but we are investigating it”, district police chief Azhar Akram said. Even though her sudden death was shocking but what will make you cringe in disgust is how he described Qandeel’s murder.
Three weeks ago, Qandeel wrote to Interior Minister and the Senior Superintendent of Police in Islamabad asking them to provide security to her. “Qandeel’s videos making rounds on social media could not be tolerated, hence I myself made a decision to kill her. I am not ashamed of my act”, he said.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, said government leaders recently failed to pass legislation aimed at curbing so-called honor killings that claim the lives of hundreds of women each year.
