Controversial Texas county chairman out, state GOP says
The Travis County GOP Party has been up in arms since Morrow was elected as party chairman in March. Under state law, a party official can not be a candidate for federal, state or county office.

Travis County GOP Chairman Robert Morrow has registered to be a write-in candidate for the presidency, amid speculation the Travis County GOP is trying to oust him from his position within the party.
Robert Morrow, Chairman of the Travis County Republican Party (left) exchanges words with a woman entering the Moody Theater for a taping of a town hall with Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump and Fox News in Austin on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016. “We certainly wish Morrow well in his future endeavors”.
Morrow has been controversial throughout his tenure, but the party wasn’t able to get rid of him because he was elected legally.
“I am the chairman of the party, so who are these people?”
A party spokesman declined to comment further on the announcement, but a person close to the party said it will likely be about attempting to remove Morrow. “The case law on this is probably extremely thin”.
Roger Stone, an informal adviser to Trump, tweeted Tuesday evening that “Clinton quisling” Morrow was removed “at my direction”.
However, there is no evidence Morrow’s claims are true, even though he cites an anonymous lawsuit from a NY federal court.
The Travis County party will hold a Friday morning news conference in Austin to discuss the ouster of Morrow. Announcing the news conference, the party referred to its executive vice chairman, David Duncan, as its “acting chairman”.

According to the Texas secretary of state’s office, Morrow met the requirements to be a certified write-in candidate for president by submitting a declaration that included signed consent forms from his vice presidential running mate – his handyman, Todd Sanders – and from 38 registered voters willing to serve as his presidential electors. He unseated James Dickey in a little-watched down-ballot race, and quickly made global headlines for his vulgar, pornographic and profane social media history and accusations about elected officials ranging from Bill and HIllary Clinton to former Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
