Atlantic City police Chief Henry White said the shooting happened around 4 am after officers stopped a vehicle with three men near a parking garage of Caesars casino. One of the officers was wounded and rushed to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, where White says he is now undergoing surgery.

The two other men now in police custody are Martell Chisholm, 19, of Millville and Demetrius Cross, 28, of Bridgeton.

The hurt officer was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division, where he remained in critical condition, according Sgt. Kevin Fair, a spokesman with the Atlantic City Police Department.

Authorities released video later Saturday afternoon showing six men they said were “persons of interest” in the case. Maisonet was last reported in critical condition at a nearby hospital. “I was on scene shortly after the incident happened, and by daybreak we had hundreds of law enforcement personnel from around the state here in Atlantic City offering to do whatever they could to help”. Investigation showed three of the men involved Saturday were victims of a robbery, police said.

This story has been corrected to show that the shooting happened around 2:30 a.m., not 4 a.m.

Mayor of AC, Don Guardian, said, “Rest assured that Atlantic City Police Dept. and other police officers from around the county have scoured the city and doing everything we can to provide safety for residents and visitors alike”.

On Thursday, Luis Maisonet, 55, of Somers Point, allegedly shot and killed Christopher Romero, 26, of Absecon, at the The Walk outlet mall in a domestic-related killing, police said. Two additional suspects are being sought.
