Cops: Driver trying to swap seats causes crash that hurt 10

Authorities in OH say 10 teens from MI have been hurt when their van rolled over near Toledo while they were coming home from Cedar Point amusement park.

The crash occurred at just after 1 a.m. on Interstate 75 in Northwood, Wood County.

Police say 10 teens were in the Chevrolet Express Van when the crash happened.

According to media reports, the group was driving back to MI after a trip to the OH amusement park when the driver, Jenna L. Halonen, 17, of Howell, grew exhausted and tried to switch seats with Lilley Kastamo, 16. Another teen was reported in serious condition, while the seven others are said to have minor injuries.

Police say Halonen was attempting to switch seats with Lilley Kastamo.

All 10 teens were transported to the hospital. Lilley and Ellie Kastamo were transported with incapacitating injuries, while the remainder of the occupants were transported by squad to Mercy Health St. Vincent’s Hospital with nonincapacitating injuries.

The details of the injuries are not known at this time.

The remaining occupants were Blake D. Pietila, 16, of Howell, MI; Logan D. Pietila, 16, Howell, MI; Lauren J. Pietila, 16, of Brighton, MI; Sam P. Daavettila, 16, of Williamston, MI; Andrew J. Daavettila, 15, of Howell, MI; Caroline M. Halonen, 15, of Howell, MI and Sylvia R. Lesperance, 16, of Howell, MI. All are 15 or 16 years old and are from the Howell or Brighton area.
