Moments later, Muhannad said, Minter pulled out a handgun and began firing.

The mom and child have been taken to a hospital in Birmingham for remedy.

He said the shooting did not appear to be racially motivated. Jackson says Minter is being held without bond at the Dallas County jail.

The woman, 24, fell to the floor, and Minter fired at her, hitting her in the chin area and in the shoulder, Muhannad said. Jackson said the woman was Minter’s girlfriend and that the shooting stemmed from a domestic situation. People have started tweeting about it already. “It’s the world we live in now, where people can’t just worship”.

Police say Minter was likely upset over a recent breakup and visitation issues with his son.

Minter allegedly fled the scene but was captured by police less than a mile from the church.

The congregation’s minister, 61-year-old Earl Carswell, then got Minter and was shot in the leg. Individuals from the assembly helped stifle Minter and figured out how to wrestle away his firearm, as per police. Also of question is whether Minter had broken a prior order of protection or why for that matter, Minter targeted his estranged girlfriend at church?
