Pennsylvania State Police say 39-year-old George Ishler Jr., of Pennsylvania Furnace, has been charged. Police found his vehicle two days later in Potter Township, Centre County.
An affidavit of probable cause revealed details of how a Penn State professor was allegedly persuaded to travel to a quarry where he was killed.
Ishler drove Bettig to a quarry off of SR 129 in Potter Township under false pretenses and pushed him off the ledge, police said. On Wednesday, August 17th, State Police discovered Bettig’s body at the bottom of a ravine type area at the quarry. He died from the 80-foot fall.
Court documents do not show charges filed for Geier. He was arraigned by District Judge Thomas Jordan and denied bail.
Bettig has been a media studies professor at Penn State since 1988, according to the State College school’s website.
