Cops shoot armed man after Brooklyn traffic stop, NYPD sources say
The NYPD shot an armed man in Crown Heights Wednesday afternoon, on Montgomery Street between Kingston and Brooklyn Avenues. He reportedly drove in the opposite lane of traffic at Empire Boulevard and Brooklyn Avenue before hitting a truck and stopping just short of a B43 bus.

The suspect ran from the auto, turned and pointed a 9mm handgun at the scene, sources said.
The officer warned the suspect not to pick up the gun, but Gomez said when the suspect reached for it, the officer fired his weapon and shot him twice, WCBS 880’s Marla Diamond reported.
Police say the 24-year-old suspect was seen speeding and driving erratically on Empire Boulevard.
Police say an officer in a marked police auto tried to stop a man for reckless driving, but the man refused to pull over.
Thomas was struck in the lower abdomen and taken to Kings County Hospital, but he was reportedly conscious as he went into surgery.
Sources say the driver then jumped out of the vehicle and police pursued him on foot.
It was not immediately clear why the officer pulled the man over.
