It accused the 49ers of “allowing Kaepernick to wear exposed socks with the image of a pig wearing a police hat”.

Kaepernick altered his protest on Thursday to taking a knee for the anthem instead of remaining seated. “I think having these conversations helps everybody have a better understanding of where everybody is coming from”.

How many people burning jerseys with Kaepernick’s number have spent time in harm’s way in defense of this country, which grants them the so-called liberties that they love? And not take away from the military.

SCPOA penned an open letter to the 49ers in response to remarks made by Kaepernick in reference to his refusal to stand for the national anthem in protest at USA race relations.

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick announced plans to take his peaceful protest against racial injustice and police brutality “a step further” at a postgame news conference Thursday night.

Of course, there were boos when Kaepernick played Thursday night, but that’s to be expected from those who consider themselves patriotic, even though people in the military are supposedly protecting people’s rights, which include the right to protest.

“I’ve been very blessed to be in this position and make the kind of money I do”, Kaepernick said.

“I’m already hearing it this week that next week on Monday Night Football, some officers are not going to work”, said Frank Saunders, president of the Santa Clara Police Officers Association, according to NBC Bay Area.

One other National Football League player, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane sat for the Anthem on Thursday, prior to his team’s game against the Oakland Raiders.

Notwithstanding the public backlash, Kaepernick’s protest seems to be gaining traction among players.

Despite the furore caused by the Milwaukee-born footballer he has vowed to continue his protest, and his teammate Eric Reid joined him in their game versus the San Diego Chargers.

Reid told reporters after the game that Boyer agreed in their talk that the shift in position was more respectful to the military.
