Copy-Lindsey Graham drops out of presidential race
Graham, a close friend of 2008 GOP nominee John McCain, is one of the most prominent foreign policy hawks in the Senate. “This is no longer about 2016, this is about who are we as a party, where do we want to go and where do we take the country”.

“We’ve come to a point now where I just don’t see how we grow the campaign without getting on the main stage”, he told supporters. Graham often touted his experience in the Middle East he says he has made 36 trips to the region and said the next U.S. president must have a deft understanding of the conflicts there.
Graham said his campaign put forward “bold and practical solutions to big problems” on issues such as the national debt and immigration.
As of Monday, Graham gained only 0.5 percent of support in the RealPolitics’ average of recent national polling. “I am not going to give an inch on the idea”, Graham has said on the campaign trail.
“At that time no-one stepped forward to join me”, he said.
By leaving the race on Monday, Graham was able to remove his name from his home state’s primary ballot, creating the sort of free-for-all that candidates such as Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio have desired for months.
The day after he announced his run for president, Graham released an impressive 100-person fundraising network in the Palmetto State. “Donald Trump has done the one single thing you can not do: declare war on Islam itself”, Graham said during last week’s Republican debate.
Having mustered little support in the polls, Graham’s exit will not have an immediate effect on the race in the final stretch before the February 1 Iowa caucuses and the February 9 New Hampshire primary. Graham is the fourth candidate to drop out thus far, still in that has not still dented the robust numbers of the anti-establishment figures leading the pack. Graham add that Trump “doesn’t represent my party” and that Trump is “the ISIL man of the year”. “However the centerpiece of my campaign has been securing our nation”, Graham said in his farewell video.
Bringing Latinos and other minorities into the GOP has been a consistent Graham message, with the senator warning that the rhetoric from the top of the campaign spells defeat in the general election.

Graham is hoping to leverage his political power in SC, though Trump could still gut him with a few politically incorrect words.
