Copy of Pokemon Go tops charts in China

And while an worldwide rollout for Pokemon Go is reportedly in the works, it may not happen as quickly as everyone thinks. Eager fans have resorted to sideloading the game on Android or creating an iTunes account for the aforementioned countries to play the game on iOS. Yesterday, the game was released in the United Kingdom, and millions of people have downloaded Pokemon GO since then.

The stand-alone APK file was the easiest way to install Pokemon Go on an Android device in a country where the game wasn’t yet launched, and for some reason, Nintendo has chose to no longer allow users to turn to this method to play the game.

On Friday, Niantic announced the game is now also available in Italy, Portugal and Spain.

For some weird reason, Pokemon Go is not officially released in Canada yet.

If fortyseven communications, the agency which represents Pokemon Go developer Niantic is to be believed, don’t expect it in your country any time soon. Companies do usually a North America release that includes Canada, but not Niantic. However, it was observed by Adam Reeve that upon doing so, “Pokémon GO” gets full access to the platform, which means that the game app can see and apply modifications to an individual’s Google account.

Hanke declined to go into a detailed timeframe for further rollouts but noted that the company’s first location-based augmented reality game Ingress had taken a month or two to reach that number of markets. It is a free download and you can get hunting for Pokemon, Poke Balls, Poke Stops and Gyms in your area immediately. The popularity of the game has been a boon for Nintendo Ltd. (OTCPK: NTDOY), which owns 32.8 percent of The Pokemon Company. Sprint is making their stores PokeStops offering lures and other incentives.
