Corbyn on defending a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation ally
Mr Bridgen said he has been approached by three Labour MPs in Westminster who have asked for him to continue his bid for a nationwide vote in order to oust Mr Corbyn.

Hundreds of people are expected to attend the rally by Mr Corbyn in Barker’s Pool from 6pm.
The Pontypridd MP is locked in a fierce battle for the Labour top job with current leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Corbyn and his leadership rival, Owen Smith, were tested on their pop culture knowledge during a live debate on BBC One’s Victoria Derbyshire show on Wednesday.
Having previously refused to say which of the two candidates he was supporting, Mr Khan’s decision to come out for Mr Smith will be seen as a huge boon for the former shadow Work and Pensions Secretary, who is widely thought to be trailing in the contest. But more worrying than this, at least for Corbyn if he does seriously want to win over Tory voters, is Theresa May’s satisfaction rating amongst those who would normally back the Conservatives. “Why would things be different in a general election?” he said.
Writing in the Observer, Khan said his party is “suffering badly” under Corbyn and is “extremely unlikely” to win the next general election if he remains in charge.
The spokesman added that Corbyn had defended Khan during the mayoralty campaign in the Commons at prime minister’s questions when David Cameron accused him of having links with extremists.
Smith said: “I think Jeremy can’t bring himself to say he would argue for a second referendum or put into a Labour manifesto that we would stay within the European Union because he fundamentally never believed in the European union”.
However, then the crowd starts cheering and Corbyn arrives at the party’s hustings event in Solihull, near Birmingham where the interview was taking place.
Mr Corbyn also ducked giving a firm commitment that the United Kingdom would uphold the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation principle of “collective defence”, where an attack against one member is deemed an attack against all. “I don’t wish to go to war, what I want to do is achieve a world where there is no need to go to war”.
“The response I’m getting outside of Parliament is very positive”, he said.

On the prospect of Republican nominee Donald Trump becoming U.S. president, Mr Smith said: “I’d be prepared to work with whoever the president was of America, that would be in the interests of the British people and we want a serious Labour government that would always act in the interests of the British people”.
