Cormier dominates Silva via decision in UFC 200

LAS VEGAS (AP) – Jon Jones has denied using any performance-enhancing substances after a positive drug test knocked him out of the main event at Saturday’s UFC 200. UFC president Dana White confirmed to ESPN on Thursday that Silva, a 41-year-old former middleweight champ, would step in.

“I think I’m in good shape and I don’t want Daniel or anyone else to think that I’m underestimating him or coming in here to try to challenge a champion”, Silva said through a translator on Thursday.

Cormier will still be at UFC 200 and will instead face Anderson “The Spider” Silva in a non-title match according to Globo. “Every time he’s moved up to 205, he looked even better than he did at 185, which is insane”.

All three judges scored the bout 30-26 as Cormier used his wrestling to take down Silva, who is already in the discussion as being the greatest fighter of all time.

Silva does require final medical clearance by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, but UFC expects Silva to be cleared.

Silva was scheduled to fight at UFC 198 against Uriah Hall but suffered an abdominal injury in camp that required surgery.

“I can confirm that Mr. Jones’ B sample results have been reported by the laboratory, and that the results confirm the findings of the A sample”, USADA spokesman Ryan Madden said Friday.

“I think it’s an interesting, fun fight”. Neither came. While Silva did inflict some damage late on, Cormier rode the fight out and the judges all scored the fight 30-26 in Cormier’s favour. He returned to action in January 2015 in UFC 183. Cormier gets his fight, and the card is, once again, complete.

“Miesha is the woman who beat the woman who beat the woman”, White said.

The initial finding forced Jones out of his UFC 200 main event rematch with Daniel Cormier, but he now faces graver consequences.
