The episode will follow the Platt family and their battle to shake-off drug dealer Callum Logan.

It comes after the announcement that Coronation Street’s current producer, Stuart Blackburn, will leave the role to work on other drama projects within ITV.

Corrie producers had asked viewers for what they wanted to see on the blackboard at the pub – and this was the victor, as reported by The Manchester Evening News.

More than eight million people tuned into the soap, which has been running for 55 years, when the message aired half way through the episode, as the camera pulled away for the advert break.

The Platts have been the centre of dramatic scenes building up to last night’s live show, with Callum making their lives hell in a bid to win custody of his son Max, then demanding £20,000 in cash.

In the live special, viewers will see Callum – who is out on police bail – head to the house but is angered when he discovers he was set up.

This is not the first time a soap has been broadcast live and there have been a number of bloopers.

Sharp-eyed viewers spotted a clanger when Fiz’s newborn baby was referred to as a boy instead of a girl.

X Factor star Diana Vickers posted about the error on Twitter: “ooop mistake in corrie”. However, Ian Beale is later heard to call Bobby “a 10-year-old boy”.

It was a gripping hour of television that was seamless despite the pressures and challenges that come with producing a programme like Coronation Street live.

I thought I was in trouble!

We won’t know anything until the powers that be want us to, but what we can share with you is what actor Sean ward has been explaining to Digital Spy following his character’s shock exit. But there’s no going back and re-editing if cast members slip up – so good luck to them.

The cast were given two weeks to learn their lines, had 12 days of rehearsals and four full run-throughs before they take to the cobbles to celebrate ITV’s 60th anniversary tonight (23.09.15).
