During the episode, which marks ITV’s 60th birthday, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) and his half-sister Sarah-Louise Platt (Tina O’Brien) are caught up in a war with violent, manipulative Callum (Sean Ward), but Sarah runs into trouble when she takes on her ex-boyfriend.

Meanwhile, claims the cast of the popular soap rejoiced at the news producer Stuart Blackburn is to be replaced by “Emmerdale” boss Kate Oates next year have been rubbished.

As well as the live episode kicking off at 7.30 on STV AND Live on the STV Player, there’s an extra treat in store.

In the best tradition of Coronation Street, viewers are promised drama, comedy and tears.

“It’s going to be full of shocks and twists and really will make everything that has come before look like a prologue”.

Despite the dramatic central plot, Michael Le Vell who plays Kevin Webster, has revealed the episode will be heavily “character-driven”.

The stream will broadcast live, so whilst you watch the action unfold live on the TV or on the Player, you will also be able to watch it being made simultaneously on Facebook and stv.tv/coronationstreet via your laptop, mobile or tablet.

One lucky Corrie devotee will even get their Tweet or Facebook message written on an empty blackboard in the Rovers Return.

Stephen Mulhern will host the show live on ITV.com and the Coronation Street Facebook [Wenn].

And a poll will give those watching the chance to choose what gets played on the pub’s jukebox at Andrea and Lloyd’s leaving party.
