FOX59 confirms Amanda Blackburn was shot in her home on the northwest side on Indianapolis around 8:30am on Tuesday morning, and that police say her husband found her unconscious on the floor.
Marion County Deputy Coroner Alfie Ballew told The Indianapolis Star Wednesday that the victim, Amanda Blackburn, had not yet been pronounced dead, but that she was on a ventilator and her death was imminent. “I know that we’re going to find the people responsible for this and they will be held accountable”.
Blackburn was shot and critically injured around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday inside her home in the 2800 block of Sunnyfield Court in the Wynnedale-Spring Hill neighborhood, near 38th Street and West Kessler Boulevard, North Drive. Police reported that her toddler son was home at the time of the suspected home invasion but was unharmed.
Church staff at First Baptist Church in Elkhart confirmed Blackburn is the daughter of the church’s lead pastor, Phil Byars.

Blackburn’s prognosis after the shooting was poor, said Kind, the family’s friend, but relatives were praying for a miracle.
“Some neighbors discussed a few new information that they may have witnessed and seen over the course of the time”, he said.
Amanda, Townsel said, was always smiling.
“He’s a pastor at a local church and they had just shared with their congregation that they were expecting last Sunday from what I understand”, said McConnell.

Besides helping with the investigation, neighbors also discussed ways to make sure this type of crime doesn’t happen again by communicating better with each other and police.
