Corsair’s new rainbow keyboards use Rapid Fire Cherry MX Speed switches
If you think the whole “RAPIDFIRE” branding on this thing is just a catchy word or branding gimmick… you are in for a treat. Three new entries are introduced with a new piece of technology to set them apart, as each keyboard benefits from the Cherry MX Speed switch. Corsair has always worked closely with Cherry, maker of the highly regarded Cherry MX switches.

To compete at the highest level, you need the fastest mechanical keyboard there is.
Cherry MX Speed is now the fastest MX mechanical switch in Cherry’s lineup. Each Cherry MX Speed switch has a 1.2mm actuation and 45g switch force, which allows me to type away without feeling tired when I’m writing for long periods of time.
All three RAPIDFIRE keyboards are also packed with features to give owners the edge, whatever game they play.
We can probably blame eSports for spawning the new Cherry MX Speed switches. It’s no wonder then that Corsair believes its new keyboards will appeal to eSports enthusiasts where fast key presses can mean the difference between victory and defeat. To their credit the most recent version of their STRAFE board did have it, so it was only a matter of time before it came to the flagship.
The Corsair K70 RGB features a redesign to make the backlighting brighter, too. With per-key multi-color backlighting, you can customize the color and pattern on every key. After all, more choices for the consumer is something we can all get behind. A large font keycap is created to bring in more light on each key when you’re using the keyboards’ lighting effects. The interface is easy to use and the link between coordinating the LEDs on your mouse, keyboard and headphones is simple and ridiculously cool.
The K70 RapidFire RGB ($170), K65 RGB RapidFire ($150), and K70 RapidFire ($130) are all available now. One other small detail that I enjoyed is the textured spacebar.
Combining the K70 RGB Rapidfire with the Corsair Utility Engine (or CUE for short) allows me to take advantage of a number of must-have features, such as full control of its RGB lights, setting up macros, text, keystrokes, shortcuts, DPI, timers, and more. I have used this keyboard as my main input device for gaming, writing, and editing, and in every area it has been an improvement. The exclusive cooperation runs for the first six months after the launch of the new CHERRY switches.
