On July 17, a number of individuals got their hands on an early preview version of Cortana for Android and began posting their initial thoughts on the app.
With Windows 10 on the horizon – it is launching on desktops and tablets on July 29th – it’s clear that Cortana is becoming a central tenet of Microsoft’s platform strategy. Cortana for Android requires a Microsoft Account, and signing in brings any user directly into Microsoft’s Bing search engine over Google.
Microsoft’s plan in releasing a Cortana app for non-Windows devices is to allow users of all kinds of devices to use Microsoft’s own personal digital assistant technology across their various devices.
