Cory Gardner hardens stance on Supreme Court; Obama should not pick
Asked his opinion about the high court vacancy, Gardner said the successor to the recently deceased Antonin Scalia “ought be chosen by the American people through the election of the next president”.

Scalia was found dead at a Texas resort ranch Saturday, The Associated Press reported.
For months, the candidates have espoused theoretical, sometimes vague, policy proposals.
Picking a Supreme Court justice is naturally a political act (and Democrats will of course politicize this as well) but conservatives are tripping over themselves to prevent Obama from doing what a president is supposed to do.
Therefore, it’s clear that if President Obama even dares to nominate a candidate for the Supreme Court, then he should be impeached and removed from office for exceeding his constitutional authority.
A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday. “If we get this wrong, if we nominate the wrong candidate, the Second Amendment, life, marriage, religious liberty, every one of those hangs in the balance”. “It was just a quick call to inform the leader of what the White House had already announced: the president intends to send a nominee to the Senate”, he said.
“These are materials related to some potential nominees”. She also said the court’s makeup is crucial to preserving abortion rights and the legality of gay marriage nationwide.
Sure enough, in Article III, Section 4, the Founding Fathers wrote, “the President may not nominate a candidate for the Supreme Court if the vacancy shall occur in the year leading up to an election, when the candidate be a ‘lame duck.’ In thy cases, the voters shall select their nominee with their pick of the next president, who will then do the nominating, and the Senate will be doing the advising and consenting”.

Late Thursday and early Friday, Obama spoke by phone with the four Senate leaders who will be most instrumental in allowing a vote on his nominee: Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Ranking Member Patrick Leahy, D-Vt. The Great Hall of the Supreme Court in Washington is seen Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, where the body of Justice Antonin Scalia will lie in repose Friday.
