Cosby was then taken to the police station to be fingerprinted and photographed before being released. He did not have to enter a plea, and his next court hearing is January 14.
Earlier this month, Cosby added Johnson to the list of seven other women who he is suing for defamation.
This is the first criminal charge levied against Cosby since the allegations first arose.

It turns out that his competitor, Bruce Castor, held the DA position in 2005 and rejected the accuser’s initial case because her credibility was supposedly questionable.
The 2005 investigation into Cosby led to a deposition in which Cosby admitted that he had, as the Two-Way reported, “obtained the sedative Quaalude with the intent of giving the drug to women with whom he wanted to have sex, and he acknowledged giving it to at least one woman”.
The decision to prosecute came just days before Pennsylvania’s 12-year statute of limitations for bringing charges was set to run out. Her attorney, Dolores Troiani, welcomed the charges.

The charges come almost 12 years after the alleged crime involving a woman who says he drugged and raped her at his home in Philadelphia.
