CoSIDA honors Hayden, Zeringue for academics, athletics

She is already a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree and was previously named to academic all-district in 2013.

Schimpf, who holds a 3.92 GPA with a major in history and a minor in French, had a very successful season on the diamond for the Gents.

To be eligible for nomination to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore in academic standing with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, and must be a starter or an important reserve.

Duckworth became the 11th Hilltopper to receive academic all-district honors, joining former CoSIDA All-Americans Matt Rice (2009, 2011), Matt Payton (2009) and Ian Tompkins (2014).

This year’s CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 Team includes six other members of MIAC institutions – Nathan Mathwig, Ben Buerkle, and Willie Doll of Saint Mary’s, Logan Hershey of Saint John’s, Jordan Zoellmer of Carleton, and Tim Carlson of Concordia. She leads the A-Sun overall in hits (65). He has reached base safely (hit, walk or hit by pitch) in every game this season (47), while also achieving the same feat in the final 28 games of the 2015 season to run his streak to 75-straight games. She has produced eight multiple-hit games from No. 9 spot in the lineup and recorded 44 putouts playing right field and left field.

The Academic All-District™ teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. District 6 is comprised of universities from the states of Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
