Cost and odds of winning National Lottery to rise

However customers will, from next month, have to pay €4 for the minimum two-line play, rather the current price of €3.

The odds of picking six winning numbers to scoop the jackpot at the moment are just over 8million-to-one.

The changes come into effect from September 3rd, with National Lottery CEO promising, “a more exciting game and bigger jackpots for our players which will generate more funds for good causes”.

The Western Canada Lottery Corporation says one person won the 14.2 million jackpot and that person bought their ticket in Saskatchewan.

The operator claimed the changes have all undergone market and player research, which “strongly” indicated that players are attracted by larger jackpots and the increased chance to win.

The National Lottery’s Agent Council said it agrees that now is the right time to introduce “a Lotto game changer”.

What changes can I expect?

This includes an increased win from €25,000 to €100,000 (average) for a Match 5 plus Bonus number and a prize for matching two Lotto numbers plus the Bonus number. A four-digit raffle number will be displayed on your ticket and if that number is drawn, you can win €300.

In fact there was no victor of the main Lotto jackpot, which will now roll over to Saturday.
