Costa on bench for Chelsea’s Spurs trip

“We have different concepts of number 10, me and him”. One of the stars of last season was responsible for relieving some of that pressure last weekend as Diego Costa struck the victor in a 1-0 victory over Norwich City, before a comfortable 4-0 win from their trip to Maccabi Tel Aviv boosted the squad’s confidence in midweek.

“Everybody was on the bench. For them it’s important to achieve something – last year we made the final of the League Cup which was a good thing but this group wants more and this year I think we are ready to do it”.

‘My second season was hard in the way that I was playing with a lot of injuries and I was struggling to adapt to the Premier League.

With Tottenham facing London-rivals Chelsea on Sunday, Neville says that he is a huge fan of the transformation brought about by the Argentine boss at his club and how he is breeding young English talent at Tottenham like he did at Southampton. However, without trying to offend any Spurs fans who may be reading, Chelsea are the better side on their day and should be much higher in the table than they are.

Speaking on the Sports Bar ahead of Sunday’s clash, Hazard said: “I think we’re in the mix and certainly our form suggests we’re in the mix”.

“These are stories that start since the 1st of September when the market closes and will get more and more and more from January 1st”, he told reporters. In doubt: John Terry (ankle); Cesc Fàbregas (toe); Ramires (knock). Thus, Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma are set to take the field against Spurs, in the center of the defence.

Club legend Micky Hazard believes in-form Tottenham are firmly in the mix for the Premier League title this season, though admits their inexperience could cost them the ultimate prize.

Pochettino had complained about the possible effects on his players of making such a demanding journey just 72 hours beforehand, but still opted to retain eight of his mid-week starting XI in his line-up. “We came back too relaxed thinking we were going to win it again like last season”.

Hazard was guilty of wasting their best opportunity, the Belgian heading over from Pedro’s cross when unmarked in front of goal.

Tottenham continued to enjoy the majority of possession, although Son Heung-min was unable to make it count when he directed a free header straight at Begovic with 27 minutes played and the Bosnian was forced into further action soon after, diving low to his left to turn Mousa Dembele’s skidding 25-yard hit around the post.

Chelsea pushed for an opener and were almost rewarded in the 67th minute but Hugo Lloris pulled off a superb save to keep Hazard’s volley from six-yards out.
