Costa rescues Chelsea, Arsenal bounce back
United dominated the match at the Bridge, but a Diego Costa goal late in the day denied them maximum points.

Chelsea are set to host Louis van Gaal’s Manchester United at Stamford Bridge this Sunday, in what is expected to be a not-so-spectacular coming together of the unremarkable.
The first goal came for Louis van Gaal’s side in the 61st minute after great build up play saw the ball fall to Lingard in the area who slotted home impressively on the turn past a helpless Thibaut Courtois.
United were bailed out once again by their rock, David de Gea, who made three world-class saves that kept Chelsea out of the back of his goal and potentially winning the match 4-1.
The Spaniard spent two-and-a-half successful seasons at Chelsea before joining Manchester United in January 2014 after falling out of favour with then Blues boss Jose Mourinho.
Nigeria’s Mikel Obi was in action for the entire duration of the match as he put on an A-game which helped his side.
Manchester United reportedly decline to comment on reports that they have held talks with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
“Chelsea Football Club’s medical team have diagnosed that Kurt Zouma sustained an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament during yesterday’s [Sunday’s] Premier League game against Manchester United”, a club statement on Monday confirmed.
The result also did little for Chelsea’s immediate aim of moving up the table, and left them stranded in 13th place on 30 points, seven points clear of the relegation zone but 17 points away from the Champions League places. “We have created a lot of chances here at Chelsea”.
“We played very well until maybe the last quarter and it was very frustrating they scored so late”. Blind slipped as Cesc Fabregas threaded the ball through the United defense and Costa withstood Cameron Borthwick-Jackson’s challenge before rounding De Gea to score.
“We are unbeaten (since my appointment), but as I said before, if you want to get into fourth place, you must have victories”.
If Arsenal fail to score, it will be four Premier League matches without a goal for the first time since February 2009 and equal their longest run without a goal in the competition. “After conceding late on it felt like a defeat but we have to move onto the next game now”.
