Cotto ready for Alvarez fight

A similar Denver Post report said that Cotto is aiming to win the fight to seal bigger matches after.

De La Hoya echoed the same goal “Canelo” had for his next fight, Boxing Scene noted.

“With all due respect, if he wants to fight right now, I’ll put the gloves on and fight him”. Better yet for those contemplating spending $69.95 to watch it at home, it doesn’t figure to lack for action.

Vargas won a piece of the 130-pound title, but paid a price to do it. He was knocked down once and staggered at the end of the eighth round, and the ring doctor looked closely at his swollen right eye before allowing the fight to continue in the ninth. Cotto fought well throughout the bout, but could not find that one single shot that would disrupt the equilibrium of the 25-year-old Alvarez.

Alvarez won the title that Cotto had vacated last week for not paying sanctioning fees, after the WBC ordered the victor of Saturday’s fight to take on the 33-year-old from Kazakhstan.

Furthermore, Roach said, Alvarez just isn’t all he’s made out to be, saying his defense is “terrible”.

“For $1.1 million I can buy any belt I want and be champion of whatever I want in my house”, Cotto said. “This fight speaks for itself”.

” Entering the fight, Alvarez was landing 49 percent of power punches, third-highest among active fighters”.

Lee Haskins is also on the undercard against Randy Caballero for the IBF bantamweight title in another hard fight.

Obstacles for an immediate fight with Golovkin are Alvarez’s hesitation to agree to fight at a 160-pound limit after Saturday’s 155-pound catchweight fight, and a concern that Golovkin, after drawing only 150,000 pay-per-view buys in October, is still building his brand. But one of the biggest highlights from the fight came after the final bell rang.

“Is he going to fight Triple-G?”

The fight was one of the more anticipated in recent years (and added the storied Mexico-Puerto Rico boxing rivalry).

However, he will need to sit down with his promoter, Oscar De La Hoya first before his next fight is finalized. “Now it’s our job to bring them back”. Like I said right now, Canelo is the man right now… he is fighting in May and September…if Mayweather wants to fight him – we can discuss that in the future. He went to Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach to revitalize his career, and has stopped all three of his opponents since. “I’ll always admire him”. There’s obviously other fights at 154.

Meanwhile, although both Alvarez and Golovkin’s names are the most heard in the industry now, some rumors have also been floating on how Pacquiao plan to either continue or finish his career. Not Mayweather, not Pacquiao.
