Considered an offensive mastermind, Coughlin sought several coaching jobs last offseason, but didn’t take any.

Tom Coughlin will be joining the NFL’s football operations staff, a person with knowledge of the agreement tells The Associated Press. An official announcement is expected later this week.
Six months after stepping down as coach of the New York Giants, Tom Coughlin has landed his next job.
Coughlin won two Super Bowl titles during a 12-year run with the Giants from 2004-2015. As he prepares to start a new chapter, so too do the Giants he left behind, set to report for training camp Thursday morning.
The old-school stickler for details and rules will work in the department that handles rules and officiating, operating under Troy Vincent, the NFL’s VP of Football Operations.

The move doesn’t mean Coughlin’s coaching career is over. Giants president and co-owner John Mara, who replaced Coughlin with Ben McAdoo as the Giants’ coach, is on the competition committee.
