“The Rams have had internal discussions about bringing Peyton Manning to Los Angeles should he want to play another season, per a league source”.

You’ve heard all the Peyton Manning retirement stories by now.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Los Angles Rams may be interested in Peyton Manning if he wants to play next season.

Manning has a great chance to ride into the sunset on a Super Bowl appearance or potentially a Super Bowl win. If not? the next few weeks after the Super Bowl will be another eventful one for the Broncos.

The Rams have plenty of problems at the quarterback position, with neither Nick Foles nor Case Keenum playing particularly well in 2015.

Most likely Manning will retire after Sunday’s game, however, say he does decide to come back for another year and the Broncos release him to open up cap space. Denver also has Manning’s backup, Brock Osweiler, set to hit free agency, which makes its own QB situation murky.

San Francisco – No matter what happens in Super Bowl 50, the quarterbacks will be a major story line. The 14-time Pro Bowl quarterback played 10 regular-season games, where he completed 59.8 percent of his passes, which is his lowest since his rookie season with the Indianapolis Colts in 1998. But, if the Panthers do beat the Broncos, finishing his career in the Los Angeles limelight seems like a ideal fit for the part-time quarterback, part-time TV commercial star. He’d also be an excellent tutor for any quarterback apprentices the Rams would have to back him up. The Rams are clearly keeping their options open, but will have to wait until after the Super Bowl, as Manning is unlikely to reveal any future plans till after the big game.

The Rams are coming off another losing year which saw them miss the playoffs for the 11th consecutive season, after finishing with a 7-9 record to place third in the National Football Conference (NFC) West.

The intangibles, intelligence and resume Manning boasts would bring immediate optimism to a franchise that’s struggled to get over the hump in recent years, hovering just below. But here’s hoping he has one great night left in him, one last game to remind us all why, as Ty Law once told me, “you didn’t sleep the night before you played Peyton Manning”.

Before we dive too far into this topic, it must be noted that the Rams are discussing any and all potential quarterbacks who could make them better.
