Could this be the year? Gov. Johnson picked as Libertarian Party candidate
After Johnson blew the kiss, Cuomo replied, “That’s an interesting rebuttal you have there governor”. One had the refrain: “I am not throwing away my shot”.

The very availability of politicians the caliber of Johnson and Weld speaks to the Libertarians’ potential role as a refuge for disaffected Republicans.
Tuesday on CSPAN’s “Washington Journal”, Libertarian Party presidential nominee Gary Johnson was asked by a caller about the possibility of him working with Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Johnson found major success in areas outside of politics as well with his construction company. “We’re fiscally the most conservative, and we’re socially inclusive and tolerant, which is not really the platform of the Republican Party”.
If he wins the elections, Johnson plans on cutting down taxes and cutting back on military interventions.
“I support a consumptive tax in lieu of federal income tax and corporate tax, and yes, that means abolishing the Internal Revenue Service”, he said at the time.
In past elections, the Libertarian Party has held little sway over the national electorate. Libertarians generally believe that people should be allowed to do anything that doesn’t affect the welfare of others and support abortion rights, same-sex marriage and decriminalization of illegal substances.
The former New Mexico governor, who was nominated this weekend and will have former MA governor Bill Weld as his running mate, also responded to doubts host CNN’s Chris Cuomo raised about the appeal of so-called Rockefeller Republicans in an increasingly polarized political environment. The party’s best showing was 1980, when candidate Ed Clark got slightly more than 1 percent of the vote.
Remind me: who are the real misfits in this picture?
Supreme, however, made it a point to tell ABC News he was not representative of the party, “and I think the party would appreciate me saying that”. Weld squeaked by on a second ballot with just over 50 percent of the vote.
Of the Libertarian party candidates in 2014, the leader in votes was gubernatorial candidate Daniel Lewis with 8,315 supporters statewide.
The convention was an unusual spectacle by the standards of typical American political gatherings, even in an election year where a reality-television star has catapulted to an almost-assured Republican nomination.
I’ve been a staunch democrat my life life, not by choice but by programming.
“One thing great about third parties is their ideological purity”, says Brian Smith, an expert on third-party voting at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas.
“Absolutely. So how about making a system where by it would be easy to get a work visa, a moving line to get across the border, having a work visa, so that the people crossing the border illegally, that the Border Patrol would actually be able to identify those people as opposed to mothers with children that are actually wading across the Rio Grande because of jobs that exist and they can’t get over to take advantage of them”.

As the party emerges out of its convention, it’s clear its leadership is hoping to cash in on the record-high unfavorables dogging both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
